MIA LAWRENCE is an independent choreographer and teacher who has been
based in Europe for the last four years.
"Hide And Seek" is her first production in New York since 1998 when she received a "Bessie" for her collaborative project "Kriyas". For the past year, she is based in
Munich where she is receiving support from the city and the state.
Since 1997, her work has been presented in New York (DTW, The Kitchen,
PS122, Dixon Place..) and at numerous festivals in Europe and South
America. She has received substantial support from the Salzburg Summer
Szene , Dans in Kortrijk, Belgium and Germany for her last three
productions.
She was a member of the Stephen Petronio Company for eight years and
has also danced with Donna Uchizono, Jeremy Nelson, Lucy Guerin, and
Rebecca Hilton, and others.
She participated in Benoit Lachombre and Andrew Harwood's "Not to Know" project with performances in 2002 at Tanzwochen Wien.
She is also an internationally known teacher
for contemporary dance and creative workshops (P.A.R.T.S. Brussels, SEAD Salzburg, Danceworkshop Europe, Munich, Int. Tanzwochen Wien, Vienna). Her work is deeply influenced by her studies in yoga and meditation.
